Fuerteventura, the second largest of the Canary Isles, benefits from a sunny climate all year round. Fuerteventura has the best climate in the Canaries, with an average of 2,938 hours of sun a year. This wonderful weather gives the perfect opportunity to top up that all over tan. But this doesn’t have to be done at the poolside, as there are numerous beaches on the island that give you beautiful surroundings as well as a good tan.

Beaches that are worth a visit include the Grandes Playas just outside Corralejo, and El Cotillo. About half an hour’s drive from Las Fuentes, El Cotillo is a long beach, with warm lagoons left on the beach at high tide.

Corralejo, the island’s main resort, was once just a small fishing village. Now, it has grown, and has a small marina, and a good choice of shops, bars and restaurants. Night life is generally low key, but there are a couple of discos to be found, as well as plenty of live music to choose from.
